About the Author

Kathleen Prokopovich (BHSc, MPH, PhD Candidate) is a higher degree research student at the University of Wollongong. She created this website in response to Macedonian community questions.

Kathleen is interested in learning about community views around the school vaccination. Before being a PhD student, Kathleen worked as a Medical Scientist and spent 12 years screening Pap Smear’s.

While working in the lab Kathleen saw how HPV related diseases were being reduced because of the introduction of the HPV vaccine. She also saw first hand how HPV-related disease and cancer can affect some men. This has inspired Kathleen to learn how the health system can be better so that ALL adolescents, no matter their culture or background, have an opportunity to get the HPV vaccination.
